I have been practicing various styles of yoga off and on since the early 80’s, with a consistent practice since 1994, and incorporating yoga into a variety of teaching activities since 2002.  After training at Sundara Yoga Therapy,  I became a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher in March 2012, was grandfathered as a Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher based on hours taught to children, became a Certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher – Now called Trauma Informed Yoga Therapist – in May 2012, an Integrative Yoga Therapist at the 500 Hour Level in August 2013 and at the 1,000 Hour Level in May of 2016.  My primary mission in becoming a yoga therapist is bringing the healing tools of yoga to under-served populations.

I am a Yoga Warriors International Certified Instructor, a Certified Therapeutic Adaptive Yoga for MS Instructor,  and a Warriors at Ease(WAE), Veterans Yoga Project, and iRest Yoga Nidra trained instructor.  I have experience teaching populations like: yoga for corporations, yoga for children and teens, yoga for seniors, yoga for women’s health issues, yoga for substance abuse recovery, plus size yoga, and yoga for veterans and active duty military.

My primary areas of specialization as a yoga therapist are: Trauma/Anxiety, Auto-Immune Disorders, Joint Replacements, Cancer Recovery, Military/Veteran Populations, Structural Issues, Chronic Pain, Diabetes, Stroke Recovery, and Generalized Stress Management.

I have been affiliated with the following yoga non-profits: Esther Vexler Yoga School – serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors as well as Guest Lecturer; Yoga Day 501c3 – serving as primary instructor at Haven for Hope and Audie Murphy VA, as well as consulting on non-profit development and management issues, fundraising, process and procedure development, and volunteer management; Currently with The Overcoming Anxiety Project – serving on the Advisory Board and as a guest lecturer; and with the Austin Queer Yoga Collective as a member.  I have also taught as a volunteer with Childsafe, Say Si, City of San Antonio, and other organizations on a short term basis.
